From a young Indian writer comes a thrilling novel about an off road jeep rally race gone terribly wrong. The Norttcell Company, a communications giant, has leased land on a remote, Indonesian island to run their annually sponsored race of jeeps trekking through the jungle. All is well with the international band of competitors until two of the racers suddenly disappear and radio contact is lost. The search party cannot find them despite a thorough search of the island’s rain forest. Rumors of a tribe thought extinct long ago, start to surface and the mysterious spiral of events becomes ever more complicated. Written to progress the story at a fast pace, the plot does not take long to get off the ground. The haunting rain forest is given life by the distinctive descriptions that reflect what the characters are feeling and seeing around them. If you’re looking for long, drawn out biographies of the characters, keep looking because the characters participate in the plot right from the opening page. This helps add to the intensity of the story which draws the reader into a different world. Unlike most other island adventure stories, this is a very original plot and the ending will leave the reader utterly surprised and totally satisfied. This book is excellent for a fast paced read while traveling or at home. Datoga Island is a definite recommendation!
