In order to encourage Indian products to attain internationally acceptable standards of quality, the government has undertaken several measures to increase awareness of ISO 9000 and BIS 14000. Units which have acquired any other internationally recognised certificaiton have been made eligible for grant of special import licenses for the import of items specified in the Negative List of Imports.
