Chittoor

Chittoor is an important railway station on the Renigunta - Katpadi line of the southern railway. Places around this town include :

CHANDRAGIRI Chandragiri : The last capital of the Vijayanagar kings, Chandragiri is located on the banks of the river Swarnamukhi. The ruins of the empire's fort and palaces are set amidst the greenery of this place.

Horsley hills: Named after a former collector of Chittoor, it is a charming little hill station at an altitude of 1,265 metres above sea level.

Kailasakona waterfalls: This beautiful waterfall is situated in the Nagari valley. It is considered sacred and the mineral rich water of Kailasakona is said to possess curative powers.

Madanapalle : A famous health resort, located at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level, Madanapalle enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year.

Nagari : The most prominent and highest cliff in the Nagari hills, is called the Nagari nose, as it resembles a human nose in shape. A picnic spot is located here.

Puttur: This village is famous for its bone setters, whose ability to set right any type of fracture with the help of herbs and indigenous plaster, is renowned through out the south.

Thalakona : Etymologically, this place is said to be the threshold to the seven hills of Tirumala. The 6 metre fall perennial water fall and a fertile valley filled with luxuriant evergreen forests, present a grand view of nature at its best.
