Saratoga: Shireen, 9 and Tanya, 11 have announced the release of "Forever"- an original music album of eight melodious songs dedicated to efforts to improve literacy in India. The album will also raise funds for ASHA, a US based non-profit organization for education in India.
Shireen Productions had released "Reflections" a cassette album, as a summer project in 1996, to raise funds for ASHA. "Our first production was sold out to grandpa, grandma, other relatives and friends" said Shireen "This time we have enough CDs for everybody"
" 'Forever' taps the father daughter singing sensation Tanya and Anil, who have delighted Bay area audiences for several years at fund raisers and musical gatherings. The music has been composed by Deepak Pandit, the violinist in Jagjit Singh's music team," a news release said.
"I've known the family for many years as fans of my music" said ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh "It was indeed my pleasure to help this charitable effort. Now I am their fan and look forward to more music from Tanya and Anil."
The lyrics by Qaisur-Ul-Jafri and Asir Burhanpuri are in plain Hindi. In development for more than a year, in Mumbai. It features and credits well known musicians like Ronu Majumdar, Ulhas Bapat, Abhinav Upadhyay, Niladri Kumar, Arshad Ahmed and Shamraj.
The recording in Bombay was followed by mastering, packaging and production of CDs in California. The album has been released in a colorful packaged CD format only and is available thru ASHA, and other outlets.
Shireen Gupta is a third grader at Argonaut Elementary School in Saratoga. An avid web surfer, she enjoys producing websites, albums and organizing parties.
Tanya Gupta is a sixth grader at the Redwood Middle school in Saratoga. Tanya has had a keen interest in Indian and American popular music from an early age of three. She is now learning Indian vocal classical music from Shumita Chakraborty. Anil Gupta is by profession, a hi-tech Silicon valley executive.
