American Desi opens up in the UK

Sept 28th 2001, United Kingdom: Hold on to your hats my friends and prepare yourself for the ultimate Desi experience. Well at least that’s what the creators of American Desi promises for the people in the United Kingdom. American Desi hits several UK markets including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Leicester, Bristol, and Glasgow.

Distributed by Eros Entertainment, fans all over the USA and Canada fell in love with the movie. Later in the fall they plan to expand this movie internationally across India and other parts of the globe.

Critics have compared this movie to "16 Candles", a big hit in the 1980s about teenagers and young adults. In American Desi you have "Kris" (whose real name is Krishna but he prefers to be called Kris among his American friends), Ajay whose soft hearted thuggish guy, and Farah who is very religious but a modern type of girl.

The hit comedy has also been nominated for best picture, actor, and actress in this year’s annual Ammy Awards honoring the best in Asian and Asian-American cinema.
