| The Shoeshine Boy |
He sits on the steps at the Station Probably the busiest one in the Nation He's here everyday on the dot Never changing his work spot You can see him dressed in red and black Wearing a brown skull cap A gray scarf around his neck, one can see Working forever, as busy as a bee He calls out to passers by in the morning rush Banging his box with the shoe brush Always has a smile on his face Trying to make a living in this rat race Never stops humming a "filmi" song Which remains in your memory all day long As night falls the crowds trickle home And he moves his box under the street lit dome Today's collection has been good He can have plenty of food Its getting late, he must be off quick Before the police come with their wooden stick He quickly packs up his kit And puts them neatly where they fit Carrying the box he walks away into the night And will be back again tomorrow Always smiling and bright.
