I took a walk down the park one day Not far from where I stay Watched the children playing games Calling each other funny names My friends and I had played here before Till sweat poured from every pore I sat on a bench and closed my eyes Heard my friend's loud cries Come on! hit hard don't get out, They all together seemed to shout I swung the bat with all my might The ball flew high, what a wonderful sight I was thrilled and threw my cap in the air, We had won the match fair & square Suddenly I heard a dog loudly, bark I opened my eyes and looked around the park God! it was so still, not a sound Not a soul anywhere around The children had all gone away home And here I was sitting all alone In the evening breeze I suddenly shivered My eyes became moist and my lips quivered The light is fading, soon it will be dark I must be off quickly away from this park I raised myself from the seat Felt my heart skip a beat Took a few steps forward and then looked around And all I could hear is my own heart pound I shook my head and walked away alone... Into the darkness where lay my home.
