Exotic Kalakand

This is an absolutely simple and mouth-watering dessert that I have learned from my MOM!!! Try it, it doesn't take long to prepare this KALAKAND or MAAO as we call it in Sindhi.

Ingredients:

  • Unsalted Butter   -   2 Sticks
  • Ricotta Cheese   -   1 1/2 lbs
  • Non-fat Milk Powder (Carnation or any other kind)   -   1 1/12 lbs
  • Sugar   -   1 1/2 lbs
  • Cardamom Powder   -   1/2 tsp or more if you like that strong taste
  • Powdered Almonds   -   3/4 - 1 cup
  • Chopped Pistachios and Almonds for decoration   -  
  • Method:

    1. In a non-stick pan, melt butter and add the Ricotta cheese. Cook this for about 10 minutes. 2. Add the sugar and cook for another 10 minutes. 3. Finally, add the milk powder, cardamom powder and powdered almonds and cook till the mixture leaves sides of the pan. 4. Pour this mixture in a greased plate/thali and decorate with chopped nuts. Cut into desired shape when cool. Tip - Cut with a greased knife or use a plastic knife to cut in order to avoid sticking of the mixture to knife.
