tamarind rice

hi..i am vimala from sweden.. cooking is my hobby.this is my favourate item.

Ingredients:

  • rice long grain-   -   1kg
  • tamarind   -   1/4 kg(boil in water)
  • oil   -   200gms
  • curry leaves   -   2 twigs
  • green chillies   -   8 to 9(slit lenghth-wise)
  • methi seeds(roasted&powdered   -   1tsp
  • seasom seeds(roasted&powdered   -   2tsp
  • groundnuts   -   1tsp
  • cashewnuts   -   2tsp
  • mustards,uraddal   -   each 1tsp
  • channa dal   -   1tsp
  • salt   -   3tsp or desired taste
  • red chilli   -   6
  • ginger   -   grated-1tsp
  • turmeric   -   1˝tsp
  • Method:

    sqeeze tamarind pulp. cook the rice without sticky.cool it on a neat napkin. add tamarind pulp&1tbsp oil,curry leaves. add seasompowder,methipowder,salt with a fork. seasonig with mustards,red chilli(not broken),asafoetida(˝tsp)urad dal,channadal,cashewnuts,groundnuts also.fry for 1 minute until it done. add finally green slit chillies fry for a second,mix immedietly to the tamarind rice with fork.let it cool on that napkin OR wide bowl. keep in a container and let it stay for one to 2 hours before serving.(it is nice to mix turmeric when rice is boiling,we can get uniform colour)
