Sambar Powder

Ingredients:

  • Coriander (whole)   -   300 gm. (10.5 oz)
  • Split red gram   -   100 gm. (3.5 oz)
  • Split Bengal gram   -   50 gm. (1.5 oz)
  • Split black gram (   -   white 30 gm. (1 oz)
  • Pepper   -   (whole) 30 gm. (1 oz)
  • Fenugreek   -   10 gm. (0.5 oz)
  • Red chilli (whole)   -   250 gm. (9 oz)
  • Mustard   -   15 gm. (0.5 oz)
  • Turmeric roots   -   2
  • Asafoetida   -   15 gm. (0.5 oz)
  • Dry coconut   -   250 gm. (9 oz)
  • Gingelly seeds   -   250 gm. (9 oz)

Method:

Clean and dry ingredients in the sun or roast without oil individually. Powder chillies separately. Powder rest of the ingredients finely. Sieve all the powdered spice and mix together with salt to taste.
