Dum Aloo

Dum Aloo is one of the popular dishes from West Bengal.This can be an excellent side dish for chapathis, puris & rice.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes   -   4 Medium sized
  • Onions   -   2 Large
  • Garlic   -   4 cloves
  • Ginger   -   1/2
  • Turmeric   -  
  • Red chilli powder   -   1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala powder   -   1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaves   -   4 - 5
  • Cooking oil   -   3 teaspoons
  • Salt   -   According to taste

Method:

Chop the onions, Garlic & Ginger. Grind to a smooth paste with 1 cup of water. Chop the potatoes into reasonably big pieces. Boil them, peel off the skin and set aside. In a pan, fry the bay leaves in oil. Add the ground paste. When the paste starts boiling, add turmeric, red chilli powder, garam masala & salt. After 10 mins add the boiled potatoes to the paste and mix well. Remove off stove after 10 mins. Add chopped coriander leaves & finely chopped raw onions just before serving.
