PEARL ONION CURRRY

This dish tastes good with rice, idli, dosa & chapathi.It is a south indian dish.

Ingredients:

  • Pearl onions peeled   -   10 to 15
  • fenugreek seeds   -   15gms
  • Tur dhal   -   250 gms
  • tomatoes   -   2 small ones
  • dry chilly   -   3
  • grated coconut   -   20 gms
  • asafoetida   -   a pinch
  • chilly podwer   -   1/2tea spoon
  • coriander powder   -   1/2 tea spoon
  • Method:

    1.add fenugreek seeds to dhal taken in cooker.add pearl onions as whole & pinch of asafoetida in it.add enough water & pressure cook it. 2.meanwhile take little oil in a frying pan.add mustard seeds & allow it to splutter.add cumin seeds,dry chillies, finely chopped tomatoes,chilli powder,coriander powder.saute them for 5 min.now add grated coconut & saute it for 5 min.add 1 cup of water,salt to taste & bring it to a boil. 3.now add this mixture to cooked dhal & bring it to a boil. serve hot with idli,dosa or rice
