Thoren - A Keralite Dish

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage   -   1
  • Shredded cocunut   -   3/4 cup
  • Green chillies   -   3
  • Vegetable Oil   -   2-3 tsps
  • Dried Red chillies   -   2
  • Mustard seeds   -   1 tsp
  • Curry leaves   -   4-5
  • Salt   -   According to taste

Method:

Finely shred the cabbage and set aside. Pour oil into the pan and when the oil becomes hot, maitain medium heat, split the red chillies into pieces, add them. Add the mustard seeds and curry leaves and let the mustard seeds pop. Now add the cabbage, cocunut, green chillies (cut into small pieces) and salt. Stir well and cook covered for 10min or until the cabbage is done. A little water may be added so that the mixture doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan. If adding water, make sure to cook uncovered after the cabbage is done so that the water evaporates.
