Spinach Koottu (Tamil dish)

Ingredients:

  • Fresh spinach   -   1 pack
  • Moong Dhal   -   1/2 cup
  • Rasam powder   -   1 teaspoon
  • Grated coconut   -   1 tablespoon

Method:

Grind the Rasam Powder & grated coconut to a smooth paste. For seasoning: 1/4 tsp mustard, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 tsp ghee. Finely chop spinach. Mix spinach and Moong dhal together in a vessel and pressure cook for 10 minutes. After 15-20 minutes take out the spinach from cooker. Heat ghee in a Kadai. Add the mustard and let it splutter. Add the cumin seeds and fry for a minute. Add the cooked spinach& dhal mixture. Add salt & turmeric powder(a pinch). Give it a boil. Add the ground paste and give another boil. Tasty kootu is ready.
