Dripping with romance and haunting atmosphere, this will give you the shivers long after you put the book down. I was immediately drawn into the world of Sabrina Ayers, a young lady with a family haunted by a scandalous past and a last name that sparks both fear and ridicule. Even Angels Fall is written in a suspenseful, compelling, and enticing voice.

Sherry A. Mauro delivers a fantastical plotline, rich with intrigue, power, and vivid detail and description. Her words run smooth with a hint of poetic flair. There is no putting this book down! She offers a romance that is beautifully balanced with light and dark, but it is the dark that will keep you glancing over your shoulder at every little noise or movement!

Our main character Sabrina is born into a name that is looked down upon by the snobbish “townies.” Daily taunting from other girls in her high school leaves her with few friends, unsure of her past, yet strong enough to defend her future. Soon she meets a man that stirs up a bevy of deep emotions. Richard is a striking man, extravagantly rich, and studying to be a doctor. Of all the proper debutantes he could have, he sets his sights on Sabrina; enchanted yet beguiled by her innocent and stubborn ways. Her fiery side reminds him of his own mother, a woman he loved very much. With her mother pushing her to marry into money and a good family name, she feels compelled to give up everything to be with him, even her faith.

Insecurities arise when Richard asks Sabrina to move in and help restore his families’ old house, a beautiful mansion complete with a history of ghosts and ample misfortunes to the people who worked there. Along with cobwebs and dust, there are shadows, secrets, and a presence that insists to be revealed. Sabrina realizes there is more to the mansion as Richard’s demeanor changes and she learns things that may forever change them. Is their meeting fate or will it ultimately be her fate?

I loved the powerful imagery here, the words literally poured from the pages, colored in texture and style. The feelings were realistic, believable, and the dialogue unsurpassable. Characters fed off one another with wit and emotion. We feel compelled to hate certain characters, yet learn to love them in the end, even if we aren’t supposed to. Sherry A. Mauro has delivered a brilliant read and I look forward to all her future endeavors. There is more than meets the eye in “Even Angels Fall” and it’s a true masterpiece from a talented author who has opened her world to us. Literally jumped as I read the words, getting lost in the sights and sounds that filled the home of her fiancé’s dead mother. Haunting, spooky, and deliciously suspenseful!
