Bangalore: Dr Vivek Hallegere Murthy, an Indian American has been selected to be part of the healthcare advisory committee constituted by Obama, reports Basavaraja Havaldar of Deccan Herald.
Vivek is the current President and founder member of America Doctors’ Association. According to him, along with the treatment of diseases, major importance should be given to the prevention of diseases, which will result in a stronger nation with healthy human resources and a stable economy.

Vivek pointed out the fact that the expenses on healthcare in the country, both by the individuals and Government have been witnessing a heavy rise over the past few decades. So, with the establishment of the committee, steps will be taken to prevent diseases, which will help in the productivity of the nation.

Each and every citizen in the U.S will be included in the health insurance plan to lessen the personal spending on healthcare.

The improvement of hospitals and community healthcare will be taken care of along with spreading awareness on good health and protection of environment in schools and colleges.

Vivek says, “People think if the services are expensive, the quality would be high. But, our report dwells on providing quality healthcare at economical cost to reach all sections of people. Preventive measures have been dealt at length.”

He holds an MD degree from the Yale School of Medicine.
