BANGALORE: Delhi high court has reserved all the rights of over 400 websites to show FIFA World Cup matches online. Indian company Multi Screen Media (MSM) Satellite Pvt. Limited has filed a petition against the online websites for telecasting FIFA World Cup matches reports India Today. MSM owns the channel Sony six and claims that many online websites are hindering its rights to show the matches. MSM also informed that it has official authorities to show live telecast of matches, delayed matches and repeat telecast of 2014 FIFA matches in the Indian subcontinent.
Justice V Kameswar Rao has informed to the Internet Service Providers (ISP) to obstruct all the websites pointed out by MSM in the petition. He also added that if any website was found violating the privileges of official broadcaster of FIFA World Cup 2014 in Indian subcontinent, then it will be banned immediately. Also, the websites are not even allowed to show the highlights of the matches later. Summons has also been issued to the owners of several websites.

The copy of the order has to be send to the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) and the Department of Information Technology (DIT) by the high court registry on the request of MSM. The advocate from MSM, Saikrishna Rajagopal told that the company has already sent a letter to various websites which show the live telecast of matches requesting for the termination of the illegal services. An order for court will be helpful to compel websites to take action on the request. These websites are found interfering in the online rights of broadcasters before also.

MSM shows the matches on its channel Sony Six, web sites Sony Liv and mobile application Liv Sports. Keeping the success of FIFA in mind Sony has increased its advertisement rates for the telecasting channel.
