Mumbai, Aug 3 (PTI) In sync with the firming equity markets amid expectations of increased capital inflows, the Indian rupee today ended up by 31 paise to more than one and a half month high of 47.63/64 against the dollar, completing three sessions of strong rally.
Forex dealers attributed the main reason for the smart surge in the rupee to sturdy domestic equity markets as the benchmark Sensex today zoomed by another 254 points or 1.62 per cent to close at a 14-month high of 15,924.23, garnering a total 750.77 points or 4.95 per cent in the straight three sessions.

In active trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market, the domestic unit resumed better at 47.82/84 a dollar from its last weekend's close of 47.94/95 per dollar.

It touched a low of 47.
