FREMONT, CA: AB1964, the Workplace Religious Freedom Act, was approved on August 27 by an overwhelming 32 to 4 vote in the California Senate. The bill now moves back to the California Assembly for a concurrence vote and the Governor’s desk during the next month. The Sikh Coalition said it is grateful to the California Sikh community, multiple organizational partners, and numerous California legislators, especially Assembly Member Mariko Yamada and her staff, for moving this bill forward.
