Mumbai, Nov 10 (PTI) Boys under-17 top seed Vrishab Kotian of Tamil Nadu survived a third round scare to keep his hopes alive in the 66th CCI-Western India Open Squash tournament at the CCI here today.
Favourite Kotian, who had cruised to a 2-0 lead, endured a late challenge from Rajasthan?s Harshit Muchhal before registering a thrilling 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9 win to advance to the pre-quarter-finals.

Muchhal, who himself survived a second round scare yesterday, snatched a crucial 8-7 lead in the deciding fifth game after drawing level. But Kotian earned a stroke to make it 8-8 in a final game that went neck-and-neck.

Muchhal snatched back the lead at 9-8 when Kotian hit the tin, but the latter leveled again with a winner before surging ahead 10-9.
