“…haan?”. And she again heard someone calling her name “Ria…”. But as always there was noone. She shrugged her shoulders. And questioned to herself Am I going insane? And in reply she just heard an echo of her own sigh. Earlier she used to think that if you hear an invisible voice calling your name… probably someone is missing you. But later she understood it as her own soul wants someone to call her name. When she got separated from Saumya, initially, she never allowed herself to think about her. But a few months later she started feeding her nostalgia by going to the places where they used to go together or reading her slam book or just reading the e-mails which Saumya had sent to her. But now after 5 years she is trying to forget her. But now such an illusion, like hearing her name in solitude is followed by nothing more than a shrugging of shoulders and then a sigh. Before this she has lost few friends for whose friendship she has laid an epitaph too. But for Saumya, her heart is not yet ready to do so. She is not ready to forget her soul mate.

“Mamma! Where are you?”, Ria screamed, “Mom! I’m getting late for the college. Can you please tell me where my watch is?”

“Ria! Get it yourself, I’m making breakfast for you.”

“Mom! I’m in hurry. I’ll think about it later please get my watch”

Her beautiful mother replied while making some sandwiches for her daughter, but knowing her daughter too well, she knew that argument is useless and finally she has to go to search for her things so she gave up and started searching for her black digital watch which was on her dressing table.

“Honey! Look it’s on your own dressing.”

“Thanks mom!” And Ria smiled and kissed her mother to please her. “Gotta go mom! Bye”.

“Arre, have your breakfast first and…”

“Ok Mom!” And taking a couple of sandwiches Ria rushed to her college.

“Mom! I’m home.” Yelled Ria, throwing her bag to her bed.

“How was your day honey?”

“It was exhaustive mamma. Did Didi call?”

“Ya.. She’ll call again at 5. And your friend called too, twice. What’s her name? Yes! Dia.”

Dia was Saumya’s best friend. Though Ria was not in contact with Saumya, but Dia used to tell Ria what she thought she should tell.

“Oh! Did she gave you any message.?

“she has said that she’ll call again. And told that Saumya got married a week ago”

“WHAT?”

“ Dia told me that Saumya got married to an NRI and she has gone to USA with her hubby…”

And the rest Ria couldn’t hear. She just threw herself on the couch and mumbled…

Can this really happen? Can Saumya get married without telling me?-

“Are you ok Honey?” – her mom asked.

“Ya! Mom! Just tired. I’ll just take shower and then we’ll have lunch together.”

And Ria rushed to her washroom.

Ria knew not what to think and what not. She couldn’t believe this news. Saumya got married a week back without inviting her, without telling her. She left for USA without saying goodbye. How could she? They will probably never meet again. Perhaps she never mattered to her. Perhaps they never were friends. Perhaps she has been carrying the coffin of their friendship’s corpse.

And just then Ria heard someone calling her name again- “Ria!”

And this time Ria responded to it with her sobs “Saumya! Goodbye Saumya!”
