| Most mothers correct their | | children's grammar | | I corrected hers
she didn't tell me to sit up
or wash behind my ears
she always told me to stand straight
and brush my teeth
(or they would fall out
before it was time)
and comb my hair
my father never wanted me to
climb trees
I did so anyway, free of the
conscience I didnt have
he wanted me to be a "china doll"
but climbing is good
first trees, then mountains
and maybe some starry night
a staircase to heaven |
